As part of the PR efforts leading up to summer 2016's Pokémon movie, the first ever Pokémon Elections have been announced, in which 720 Pokémon will be pitted against one another in the biggest popularity contest this year!

Results will be announced later in 2016, but Tokyo Otaku Mode couldn't wait, so they first scouted out Japanese netizens' Pokémon of choice!

Surprised by Mewtwo in the top spot? In addition to being a potentially strong party member, Mewtwo has also had several appearances in the anime, and was the main antagonist in Pokémon: The First Movie – Mewtwo Strikes Back. As one of the only ones that speaks, it’s pretty awesome and unforgettable!

There may be plenty of interpretations of what makes a Pokémon “cool,” but it would be hard to say no to a trade for any of these!
