Soar in the Sky at Japan's Castle in the Sky

Castles Historical Site Ruins Beauty Hyogo Kansai

Although ruins, Hyogo Prefecture's Takeda Castle is known as the "Castle in the Sky," and in autumn, it's easy to see why.

That's because September through November provides the best conditions to see the ruins shrouded in mists by a phenomenon referred to as a "Sea of Clouds." Visitors flock during this time to take photos, since the castle appears to be floating moodily in the sky.
