When it comes to stocking up on Studio Ghibli merchandise in Japan, Donguri Kyowakoku is the store to go to, and this winter they’ll have a brand new limited-edition product on their shelves. It’s a whole-body moisturizing lotion called Steam Cream, and as the first skin care range to ever be offered by the chain of retail stores, there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the release. Created in collaboration with SC Cosmetics, the company’s signature cream is given an anime makeover with four brand new tins featuring some of Studio Ghibli’s charming characters.

From top left we have the Dwarf King and Elf Queen from the 1995 film, Whisper of the Heart. To the right, there's the Baron and Louis from the same movie and the bottom features the witch Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service and her faithful cat Jiji.

The characters, which appear on the tins as pale watercolor-painted images, are said to add a soft touch to the overall look of the new skincare products.

Each 75-gram (2.6-ounce) tin is set to retail for ¥1,620 (US$15.55), with the range appearing early at the Lucua Osaka branch of Donguri Kyowakoku on December 3, 2016 ahead of the official sale date of December 10 at Donguri Kyowakoku stores around the country.
