Ginzan Onsen is an achingly photogenic hot spring town in Yamagata Prefecture. Literally meaning ‘silver mountain,’ this northern location became famous for its old-Japan feel after it was used as the location for the 1983 period drama Oshin.

Japanese photographer Yossy, who's based in neighboring Miyagi Prefecture, happened to visit Ginzan as it was snowing in late January 2016, and the results are pretty spectacular. See the rest below!
