Takeda Castle Floating in the Sky

Takeda Castle in Hyogo Prefecture is sometimes referred to as the "Machu Picchu of Japan." With the castle ruins nestled on top of a mountain, it's easy to see why. While beautiful on its own, there are times throughout the year when a natural phenomenon makes it appear as if it is floating on a sea of clouds.

So what causes this phenomenon? The temperature difference between day and night helps produce the clouds. Changing leaves and light pouring in from different angles highlight the scene, which only appears for a few days each year. Regardless of whether or not you get to see it, a trip to Takeda Castle is basically guaranteed to be epic!
