Anime-Themed Glasses Store Comes to Akihabara

Limited-edition anime glasses are one of the things we love about Japan and now there’s a one-stop shop where we’ll be able to choose from a huge array of anime themed spectacles. Called Animegane (a play on the words anime and megane, the Japanese word for “glasses”), the store is being billed as the "world’s first anime eyewear store."

While the frames are all beautifully designed, with motifs that fans will love, each pair of glasses also comes complete with a unique case and cleaning cloths that are equally gorgeous.

All the models in the store range in price from ¥3,000 (US$26.44) up to around ¥23,000 (US$204) for more detailed designs like these Evangelion glasses.

Animegane opened its doors on July 15, 2017, in Tokyo’s Akihabara district, but for those unable to travel to Tokyo, there’s an online store with a wide variety of styles to choose from.

Whether you want to channel a magical anime girl or add some fighting mecha flair to your eyewear, Animegane aims to make all those dreams come true. So next time you’re looking to go on a shopping spree in Akihabara, don’t forget to pop into the anime eyewear store to see if there’s a Japan-exclusive model in there for you!
