Lupin III: Goemon Ishikawa’s Spray of Blood

| Anime , Movies

Lupin the Third: Goemon Ishikawa’s Spray of Blood (Lupin the IIIrd: Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon) represents the third recent animation project to focus on the past lives of super-thief Arsène Lupin III's gang in the longstanding Lupin the Third series, having begun with the TV series Lupin the Third: A Woman Called Fujiko Mine (Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to iu Onna) in 2012 and followed up with Lupin the Third: Jigen’s Gravestone (Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen Daisuke no Bohyo) in 2014.

Goemon Ishikawa’s Spray of Blood focuses on unbeatable swordsman Goemon bearing the stigma of being a traitor after the death of his master, a Yakuza leader. The film is directed by Takeshi Koike, who previously directed Jigen’s Gravestone and the "World Record" sequence of The Animatrix, as well as contributing animation to Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and Ninja Scroll.

Lupin the Third: Goemon Ishikawa’s Spray of Blood is slated for release in Japan on February 4, 2017.
