One of the most famous onsen (hot spring) regions is located in the city of Beppu, on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu, which boasts the highest yield of hot spring water in the world. With more than 2,000 onsen for visitors to choose from, Beppu is already a popular tourist destination, but now the mayor of the city is pushing for even more recognition, by pledging the opening of a spa-themed amusement park if their new promotional video reaches 1 million views.

No expense was spared in filming the video, as 150 extras were hired to dress up in towels and parade around Beppu’s Rakutenchi amusement park for the clip. The local fire department also helped out, by transporting more than 12 tons of spring water to the park from the original source, for an authentic result.

Seeing as how in just five days it has already surpassed 1 million views, it looks like this dream is going to become a reality!
