The trailer for Cutie Honey – Tears – was released on July 22, 2016, introducing Mariya Nishiuchi as the titular android crime-fighter, who famously transforms her outfits to battle her foes. Nishiuchi will also be in charge of the theme song, while Dr. Kisaraki, Cutie Honey's creator, will be played by Koichi Iwaki. The villain in the trailer is played by Nicole Ishida.

Not to be confused with Hideaki Anno's 2004 Cutie Honey film, this version is directed by Takeshi Asai, and is to be released on October 1, 2016.
