How to Find the Remains of Zeze Castle

Japan has hundreds of castles to visit and explore, but some are a bit off the radar and will take more time to find. One such castle is Shiga Prefecture's Zeze Castle, which is almost like a scavenger hunt to find.
While Shiga is perhaps best known for impressive Hikone Castle and the vast ruins of Azuchi Castle, you can also find Zeze Castle in Otsu City at the prefecture's southeastern edge. However, if you want to see Zeze Castle, you have to work for it: several of the gates have been moved to various shrines throughout the city, while one of the original two-story turrets can be found in Chausuyama Park, where it's been converted into a small meeting space.
