MOUNT TAKAO

Tokyo is definitely one of the most exciting and interesting cities in Japan, but there are so many other places that are definitely worth visiting!

Opened at the foot of Mount Takao in summer 2015, the Takao 599 Museum welcomes visitors with an exciting array of natural exhibitions, as well as a well-pruned lawn complete with avant-garde benches, a terrace and a café.

Take a three-minute trip from Mount Takao to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, then head down to the back alleys of Shinjuku's drinking districts.

Mount Takao is a 599-meter (1,965-ft) mountain in western Tokyo that has received a three-star rating from the Michelin Guide.

It's less than an hour from Shinjuku to Takaosanguchi Station, where a very steep chairlift awaits.
