Budokan's Evening Illumination Has Resumed

The venue for judo and karate competitions at next year’s Tokyo Olympics now stands illuminated following the completion of restoration work.

The Nippon Budokan is considered to many as the temple of Japanese martial arts. It was built to host the judo competition at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The top of the building is illuminated by golden LEDs. A spokesperson says the motif is meant to evoke Mount Fuji under the moonlight.

The illumination takes place every night until 10 p.m.
