Shogi Prodigy Becomes Youngest with 2 Titles

On August 20, Sota Fujii became the youngest player of the traditional Japanese board game to hold two of its eight major titles.

The teenager defeated 47-year-old Kimura Kazuki for the Oi title to achieve the feat. In July, Fujii won the Kisei title just days before turning 18. The previous youngest double titleholder was Yoshiharu Habu, who did so at the age of 22.
