Tokyo's New Foreign Residents Support Center

On Monday, July 6, the Japanese government opened a facility that offers assistance to foreign residents. The Foreign Residents Support Center in Tokyo also provides help to companies that employ foreign nationals and local governments of areas where they reside.

Justice Minister Mori Masako said "I strongly hope this center will serve as a base for supporting foreigners living in Japan in name and reality."

The center handles various procedures relating to foreign residents in Japan in one location, including immigration and employment consultations.

Twelve entities, including the Justice Ministry and Foreign Ministry, are taking part in running the facility. Companies and local governments can seek advice in person or over the phone.
