Takanawa Gateway is located between Shinagawa and Tamachi stations. It serves JR East’s Yamanote loop line and Keihin Tohoku line. The futuristic station has an unmanned store and a robot guide.

Designed by architect Kengo Kuma, the roof is made to look like folded origami paper and the structure lets in abundant natural light. Kuma’s works include the new National Stadium for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
