Among signs handmade by inmates, Megumi Ikatsu, 40, and Manami Kitao, 38, are a pair of pop singers making up Paix2. Dubbed “prison idols,” they have been singing at correctional facilities across Japan since 2000. They have pledged to continue their activities, encouraging the inmates and attempting to spread cheer and positive vibes to the prisoners.
