The First Sunrise of Fuji Climbing Season
Climbing season for Mount Fuji starts in July, when the snow melts from the top and temperatures become more hospitable. One group of climbers was there to take in the first sunrise after the mountain was opened for climbing from the southern Shizuoka Prefecture side.

The northern Yamanashi Prefecture side kicked off the mountain-climbing season on July 1, ahead of the Shizuoka side. There are multiple routes for climbing Japan's iconic mountain, which means you'll have to do it multiple times if you want to see all it has to offer!
