Happy Birthday Shan Shan!
Kids grow up so fast! Although it seems like just yesterday that Shan Shan—the adorable panda cub born in Ueno Zoo in 2017—took Tokyo by storm, she's already celebrating her second birthday.

Shan Shan weighed 61 kilograms in May, which is about half of an adult panda’s weight. She has weaned off milk and now eats bamboo and other panda staples. Zookeepers were supposed to return Shan Shan to China when she turned two, but they negotiated an extension until December 2020. Ueno Zoo officials are celebrating the birthday with an event to teach people about the bear’s habitat, as well as special panda merchandise!
