In Search of Urban Colors
It’s no secret that autumn is one of the better seasons to explore the Japanese countryside: we love a leisurely drive through the gorgeous fall foliage (koyo) for which the country’s heavily wooded mountain regions are famous.
On the other hand, true koyo aficionados know that there is some striking natural scenery to be found in Japan’s urban centers as well. This video—corny muzak-inspired synth soundtrack aside—reveals some of the best places in central Tokyo to wonder at striking yellow ginkgos and fiery red maples. We’re partial to the little-known Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens right next door to Tokyo Dome!
