Awesome Studio Ghibli Glassware Collection

Ghibli Shopping

If you’re looking for official Ghibli merchandise in Japan, the Donguri Kyowakoku (“Acorn Republic”) retail chain has you covered. This is where you’ll find items like a remote-controlled catbus, Baby-G watches adorned with Kiki and Jiji from Kiki’s Delivery Service or lucky bags filled with secret Ghibli goods at the beginning of the new year.

Now the retail chain is bringing out a new range of items to satisfy our thirst for all things Ghibli, with a collection of glasses featuring some of our favorite characters from some of the acclaimed animation studio’s most beloved films.

Called the Vintage Glass collection, the new lineup takes classic Ghibli movie scenes and gives them an American comic look, with pops of bright color and large, vibrant speech bubbles.

The six-piece range features well-known characters like Dola from Laputa: Castle in the Sky

Then there's Porco Rosso, the flying pig from Porco Rosso

There's Totoro, Satsuki and Mei from My Neighbor Totoro!

The beloved Kiki and Tombo from Kiki's Delivery Service...

Seiji and Shizuku from Whisper of the Heart...

... and finally, Yubaba from Spirited Away.

Each 245-milliliter (8.3-ounce) glass tumbler measures 11 centimeters (4.3 inches) in height, and comes with its very own box. The packaging pays homage to American comic-book style illustration, with even the Ghibli logo in the top right corner of each box stylized to look like something out of an American comic.

The Ghibli Vintage Glasses will retail for ¥950 each, plus tax, and be available at Donguri Kyowakoku stores around Japan from the end of May, 2019.
