Does a Japanese Spouse Make Japanese Easier?

As mentioned earlier, lot of people assume that having a Japanese spouse automatically means you can speak the language better. Ditto to other languages.
Of course it helps having someone to occasionally practice Japanese with—but we built our relationship in English. It’s harder than people might think to just switch to another language.
