5 Top Tokyo Club Events for Valentine's 2016

| Events , Clubbing

Singles Awareness Day... we mean, Valentine's Day is just around the corner here in Tokyo. If you’re one of those who has yet to find that special someone, or you just want to go out and have some fun (with or without your partner, we won’t judge!) there’s plenty going on in the city's nightlife scene.

5. Xex — Gentleman & Ladies × Tinder Valentine’s Special (Nihonbashi)

Tinder—ah yes, the app that has made dating/flinging into a swipe-driven free-for-all. But if 50 million people are into it, so be it. And that's beside the point: The point is Xex Nihonbashi is a stellar venue, and we highly recommend you go at least once. Why? It has a classy atmosphere (it is in Ginza after all), a surprisingly stellar sound-system, and a big enough space to hold a decent-sized crowd.

Mind you, since it is in Ginza, drinks are pricey. Resident DJs Masanori Marita and Masato Yukawa (plus a slew of others) will take to the decks for this event on February 12. Expect an array of house music, from the underground to the mainstream. Guest-list is ¥2,000, while regular cover is ¥3,000.

4. Ele Tokyo — The Weekend Valentine Edition (Azabu-juban)

A young, sexy, and mixed crowd is sure to be popping up at Ele Tokyo this Valentine's Day weekend. Located on the outskirts of the infamous Roppongi district, Ele is a small to mid-sized lounge with VIP tables and cyber-dancers sifting through asking you if you want a smoke. If you can stand the music (mainstream EDM), then this is the place for you. Girls enter free, which generally means there will be many. Guys, on the other hand, must fork out ¥3,000. Bring your mojo and dress up!

3. Trump Room — Milk Returns: Valentine's Edition (Shibuya)

Trump Room in Shibuya brings a special Valentine's Day celebration this upcoming Friday, hosted by Milk. Expect some fashionitas and those from the urban crowd to be in attendance. Music will be a mix of everything, but expect mostly techno and house.

Guest DJ Sugiurumn, U.S. native DJ I Am Jesse, and a roster of other talent have been booked for the event. If you want something young and stylish with a mix of foreigners and locals, Trump Room is calling you. Cover is ¥1,500 if you click "Going" on the Facebook link below!

2. Sound Museum Vision — Techno Invader (Shibuya)

This is one event on this list that doesn't have a Valentine's theme (that's Friday), but it has one hell of a lineup this weekend. Techno Invader at Sound Museum Vision boasts a standout DJ roster featuring world-renowned hip-hop producer and selector DJ Krush, Japan's top techno DJ in Ken Ishii, and composer and synth-pop enthusiast Takkyo Ishino. Vision is boasts several rooms, spacious atmosphere, and nice visuals. Expect some solid grooves and a music-devoted crowd. Entry is ¥3,500.

1. DJ Bar Bridge — London After Midnight: Valentine's Special (Shibuya)

London After Midnight's latest installment at DJ Bar Bridge comes with a Valentine's Day twist. If you're looking for some dancing with romancing, this is the place to be. The venue (curated by the folks behind Vision and the legendary Air) has been developed into a modern bar atmosphere. Located on the top floor of an office building near Shibuya Station, this DJ bar boasts spectacular views along with an A-grade sound system courtesy of Rey Audio.
