Tokyo Game Show (TGS) is an annual event bringing game demos, videos and amazing cosplay directly to adoring and patient fans. While the event first began in 1996, with humble beginnings, it's now attracting game makers from all over the world, including China, South Korea and the United States. Taking place in Chiba's Makuhari Messe, a grand exhibition hall just outside of Tokyo (and not far from Tokyo Disneyland), TGS 2017 began Thursday, September 21 and will end on Sunday, September 24. However, the first two days are limited to members of the press and those there for business opportunities. On the weekend, the event is open to everyone and is the best time to see incredible cosplayers who work hard all year preparing for this event. The lines to test out new games, especially virtual reality (VR) titles will be longer on the weekend, akin to waiting at an amusement park. But, you'll have the privilege to try new titles before anyone else! We got to go in with the press and you can find a few more videos and pictures over on the AAJ Facebook page.

The theme of TGS 2017 has been set as “Reality Unlocked.” In addition to referring to how technological innovations are producing even greater reality in games, this theme expresses TGS' devotion to transform the event into one that offers new experiences. In 2017, a new VR Area was introduced, featuring numerous exhibits. At TGS 2017, this area was upgraded into the VR/AR Area. to showcase VR, AR (augmented reality) and MR (mixed reality) games. Be the first to see this cutting-edge technology with your own eyes.

Also, in order to encourage the further growth of e-Sports in Japan, the stage in the e-Sports area has undergone a comprehensive renewal to convey the thrill of e-Sports to many more people. Tournaments for popular home video games and smartphone games will be held and live streamed across the internet, even in China! But, trust us when we say it's way more fun if you can be there in person!
