Top 5 Tea Places for Ladies Who Just Lunched

While matcha and oolong tea are staples in most restaurants, ladies (or gents) who just lunched may just need extra time to regroup after a meal, or a place to unwind in the middle of the day. While it's common that there isn't much room for customers overstaying their welcome in most cafés, these finds may just be what you need.

5. La Maison Ensoleille Table (Sakuragicho)

5. La Maison Ensoleille Table (Sakuragicho)

The name may sound intimidating, but this French patisserie definitely offers a welcoming atmosphere. Located in Yokohama, just outside of Tokyo, this café has tea and dessert sets, perfect for an after-meal recap. La Maison's fruit tart is the perfect match for any tea you decide on from the menu, but the chocolate gateau won't hurt either. The café is pretty and pristine, chic and dainty; Ms. Hepburn's Breakfast at Tiffany's could probably be reenacted here.

4. Gateaux Naturels (Jiyugaoka)

4. Gateaux Naturels (Jiyugaoka)

This is the perfect place for the posh clique that takes tea seriously. The tea selection in this place already matches the entire menu of most cafés. While the prices of the offerings in Gateaux Naturels are steeper than most, quality is guaranteed. Plus, you can find tea and dessert sets, which are definitely value for money. If you're clueless on what to try from among the long list, try Assam with milk. But hey, even if you choose to buy only the affordable set, you will surely feel like a million bucks here, because of the high ceilings, chandeliers, large windows and walls draped with plenty of Picasso paintings. Try the Afternoon Tea sets to enjoy the opportunity to indulge in good tea and the best cakes and sandwiches on offer.

3. City Bakery (Nakameguro)

3. City Bakery (Nakameguro)

We recommend going here if you're the type of tea drinker who first thinks of which dishes pair best with tea. City Bakery, which stands next to Nakameguro Station, offers sweet and savory treats, both for dine-in and takeout. There's enough space for both men and women to have their cake and eat it too, with tea of course!

2. Cosugi Cafe (Musashi-Kosugi)

2. Cosugi Cafe (Musashi-Kosugi)

This is Musashi-Kosugi's best kept secret (and mine). Even the name is a bit mysterious, as the sugi in it's sometimes stylized with a drawing of a tree (sugi means Japanese cedar). This spacious café offers select foods, extensive drinks, including tea and desserts for pairing. Cosugi Cafe supports "co-create, co-think, co-space," and most any form of collaboration, and is the favorite hangout spot of people who have discovered this secret café at the ground floor of The Residence, a high-rise condominium right next to the JR Line. Why is it the perfect spot for ladies who just lunched? There's a play space where moms could leave their children as they catch up over tea. Time and again they host "Cinema Café," offering film screenings to customers. Another great perk about this café: accessible power outlets and internet!

1. Peace Flower Market & Cafe (Motomachi)

1. Peace Flower Market & Cafe (Motomachi)

There are several cafés along the streets of Motomachi, but this is the perfect spot for those who want a visual and olfactory spectacle. Peace Flower Market & Cafe is the perfect spot to unwind for those that need a little pick-me-up. The flower display alone by the entrance could easily make anyone smile. What's more, the display of breads and pastries inside. This café has a second floor too that's a good hideout for those who want to take their time sipping tea. Curious passersby should not be fooled by its pretty appearance, this café also offers filling quiches and sandwiches.
